As the Chairman of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Dhaka, I am honored to lead a distinguished group of educators and scholars. Considering the expansion of nuclear-related activities for power generation and the increased demand for skilled engineers and researchers, the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of Dhaka was established. The Department of Nuclear Engineering is contributing to transforming prospective youths into skilled technical leaders of the future.

We the pioneers and leaders in nuclear engineering education and research in Bangladesh, focusing on areas such as nuclear reactor physics, radiation detection and shielding, nuclear materials science, nuclear safety and regulations, radiochemistry, health physics, nuclear fuel cycle and waste management, and nuclear fusion. Our faculty members are internationally recognized experts in their fields, and they are dedicated to mentoring the next generation of nuclear engineers.

We are also committed to providing our students with a strong foundation in nuclear engineering principles and practices. Our curriculum is designed to give students a broad understanding of the field while also providing opportunities for specialized study in areas such as advanced reactor systems engineering, computational design modelling, radiation physics and so on. We believe that a well-rounded education is essential for success in the nuclear engineering field, and we are dedicated to providing our students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel nationally and internationally.

In addition to our strong educational programs, we are also committed in advancing the state of knowledge in nuclear engineering through development and research. We have a number of active research projects underway, and we are always looking forward for new opportunities to collaborate with industrial partners, government agencies, and other academic institutions. Our goal is to be recognized as a center of excellence in the global arena for nuclear engineers, engineering development, and research for effective and peaceful applications of nuclear technology in the fields of power generation, nuclear medicine, agriculture, and industry.

As the Chairman of the Department of Nuclear Engineering, I look forward to working with our faculty, staff, students, and industrial partners to continue to build on our vision of excellence.
