It is my honor to welcome you to the Department of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry within the Faculty of Science at the University of Dhaka. The Department was established on 14th of March 2016 with the vision to promote high-level education and research in the fields of theoretical and computational chemistry, focusing on quantum chemistry, molecular modeling, and chemical simulations using state-of-the-art computational methods to understand and solve real-world scientific challenges.
We offer advanced degree programs including Master of Science (MS), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). These programs are designed to equip students with both a strong theoretical foundation and practical skills in modern computational chemistry. Our curriculum is research-oriented and tailored to meet the growing demand for specialists who can bridge the gap between theory, computation, and experimentation. The MS program combines in-depth coursework with supervised research, preparing students for careers in academia and industry. Our M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs emphasize original research, fostering innovation, critical thinking, and scholarly excellence.
Every year, 30 students are admitted into its MS program through an admission test. All the students come from both public and private universities across the country. It is a regular MS program (Not Professional) with a duration of one year. These students receive comprehensive theoretical instruction and hands-on training in modern computational techniques, preparing them for careers in research, academia, and industry.
