Md. Fakrul Islam holds the position of Executive Engineer (currently on study leave) at the Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences (CARS) at the University of Dhaka (DU). He is currently pursuing a PhD in atmospheric chemistry, with a focus on Mass Spectrometry, at Wuppertal University in Germany. Furthermore, he has completed a Master of Science in Disaster Management from the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Dhaka. He has been engaged in research on air pollution since June 2014 at CARS, DU, and has collaborated on various types of instruments, including analytical instruments and air quality monitoring devices, at universities, pharmaceutical firms, and research centers. In 2015, he participated in a two-month short course at Wuppertal University in Germany, focusing on air quality analysis methodologies. He served as a member of the Research and Coordination Committee (RCC) of the Air Quality Research and Monitoring Laboratory at CARS. He has conducted visits to Singapore, India, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
