Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) | My research focuses on embedding environmental, social, and economic sustainability into supply chain operations, particularly in Bangladesh’s manufacturing sectors. Drawing from case studies of LEED-certified RMG factories and enabler-based frameworks, I analyze the drivers and challenges of adopting green logistics, waste reduction, ethical sourcing, and stakeholder collaboration. This work aims to support organizations in aligning supply chain efficiency with sustainability, promoting circularity, compliance, and long-term resilience. |
This research contributes to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), particularly Target 12.6 (Encourage companies to adopt sustainable practices) and Indicator 12.6.1 (Number of companies publishing sustainability reports). It also supports SDG 13 (Climate Action) through Target 13.2 (Integrate climate measures into policies) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) via Target 9.4 (Upgrade infrastructure for sustainability). These efforts provide empirical insights into building responsible and climate-resilient supply networks. |
Human Resource Management (HRM) | My research in Human Resource Management explores strategic HR practices that enhance employee engagement, workplace fairness, and organizational effectiveness in Bangladesh. I have investigated control vs. commitment HRM typologies across manufacturing and service sectors, highlighting the convergences in practice due to institutional and cultural factors. Another strand of my work examines turnover intentions, gender equity, and performance appraisal systems, with a focus on how organizational structure, job design, and leadership influence HR outcomes, particularly in SMEs. |
The targeted research aligns with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth)—Target 8.5 (Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality)—Target 5.5 (Ensure full and effective participation of women and equal opportunities for leadership). Key indicators include 8.5.1 (Average hourly earnings of employees) and 5.5.2 (Proportion of women in managerial positions). These works contribute to evidence-based HRM reforms for achieving inclusive and equitable workplaces. |
SME Development | My research focuses on strengthening the resilience, inclusiveness, and productivity of Bangladesh’s MSMEs through field-based policy insights. I have conducted needs assessments of 10 SME clusters, mainly in textiles, garments, and knitting across Narsingdi, Gazipur, Narayanganj, and Munshiganj. The findings highlight key challenges, including limited technology use, informal HR practices, infrastructure gaps, and unsafe work conditions. A key focus is integrating sustainable supply chain practices within MSMEs to boost competitiveness, resource efficiency, and local value chain performance |
My research aligns with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), particularly Target 8.3 (Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, and SME formalization), with Indicator 8.3.1 (Proportion of informal employment in non-agriculture sectors). It also supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), Target 9.3 (Increase access of small-scale industries to financial services), and SDG 1 (No Poverty) by addressing structural constraints to sustainable employment. Insights from working environment studies (e.g., Munshiganj garments cluster) also support SDG 8.8 (Protect labor rights and promote safe working environments). |
