Social Welfare Alumni Association (SWAA), University of Dhaka was established in 1991. The idea was first articulated by Prof. M. A. Momen, graduate of 1961, and leadership of Professor Dr. A S M Atiqur Rahman and Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher (1987 Batch) with the support of Saidur Rahman, Obaidul Islam, and Professor Tahmina Akhtar. The Association was formed as a social club of former students of the Institute with the objective of promoting the interests of the Institute & University and its students. It is committed to providing assistance to meritorious students.

Under the dynamic leadership of the Executive Committee of SWAA (2019-2022) led by its President Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary, BPM (Bar), Ambassador, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Secretary General Md. Nazrul Islam. The Executive Committee of SWAA has done many activities. Annual Reunion program, Iftar and Doa mahfil held in every year. Children of SWAA members who got GPA-5(Golden) in S.S.C & H.S.C or equal examination, they honor in the reunion. The members of SWAA share and cherish their memories during Annual Reunion program. SWAA (Social Welfare Alumni Association) provides Prof. M. A. Momen Stipend for Institute of Social Welfare and Research’s students who are actually in need of financial assistance. This particular stipend is aiming to support these students for completion of their studies.
