Abdus Samad Azad Foundation introduced the Abdus Samad Azad Trust Gold Medal for the students of the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka in January, 2011. The award will be given to one student who will be placed top in the BSS (Hons.) final examinations of each academic year. It may be mentioned that Abdus Samad Azad was the foreign minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh immediately after Independence in December 1971 and he served as the foreign minister once again during 1996-2001.
