Nayeem Sultana, an Anthropologist by training, is working as a Professor at the Department of Development studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She holds a Ph.D. degree from the faculty of Social Sciences, University of Bonn, Germany under DAAD scholarship. The title of her Ph.D. thesis is, ‘Bangladeshi Diaspora in Peninsular Malaysia: Organizational Structure, Survival Strategies and Networks’. Dr. Sultana started her career in 1999 as a lecturer at the Department of Anthropology, Shah Jalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. In the year 2005, she used to work as a Research Fellow at IKMAS, University Kebangsan Malaysia. Her fields of teaching and research interest focus on Anthropology, Sociology, Qualitative Research Methodology, Social Development, Migration and Diaspora Studies, Development Management Practices, Women, Gender and Social Inequalities. Dr. Sultana has several publications on the aforementioned areas including a book titled ‘The Bangladeshi Diaspora in Malaysia: Organizational Structure, Survival Strategies and Networks’ (2009, LIT, Germany) and articles named, ‘Re-visiting the Strength of Weak Ties: Bangladeshi Migration to Malaysia’ (2010, Routledge, Taylor and Francis), ‘The Discipline of Anthropology in the Contemporary World: Recent Dilemmas, Ongoing Dialectics and the Challenges Ahead’ (JIAS, 2016) etc.Show less
