M. Saiful Islam,PhD is anthropologist and associate professor in the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka. He holds PhD in anthropology from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and an M.Phil. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He previously served as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Brunei. His research articles appear in various Scopus-indexed and peer reviewed international journals such as Medical Anthropology, Asian Ethnicity, Harvard Asia Quarterly, and Asian Social Science, etc. He is the author of Rethinking Development in South Asia: Issues, Perspectives and Practices (eds.) (London: Cambridge Scholars, 2022); Culture, Health and Development in South Asia: Arsenic Poisoning in Bangladesh (London: Routledge, 2017) and Pursuing Alternative Development: Indigenous People, Ethnic Organization and Agency (London: Palgrave Macmillan, 2015). His research interests include health, the environment, sustainable development, migration, edcation, gender and Social Justice.Show less
