As the Chairman of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, I am very thankful as well as excited for the opportunity to lead this fantastic department. It is my great pleasure to extend heartfelt greetings to welcome the students of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University of Dhaka.
In response to the emerging growth of travel and tourism industry, particularly in Bangladesh, the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management has been established in 2007 to contribute to developing high quality human resources. Since then, the department has been engaged in industry led teaching and market oriented research to meet the growing demand of the industry. At present, the Department is offering BBA, MBA, EMBA, M.Phil and Ph.D programs to the students. As a part of academic involvement in tourism field, the department has been working for contributing through creating academic excellence by knowledge and skill development. Since its establishment, hundreds of students have completed their graduations from the department. Many of them are engaged in entrepreneurship, government and multi-national organizations for their career.
Our current students are highly engaged in industry-oriented educational development in terms of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The theoretical knowledge development comprises up-to-date class room teaching following standard course curriculum. A group of enthusiastic and highly qualified faculty members are involved in teaching in the department. The class rooms contain all modern teaching equipments including internet connected computers and multi-media projectors. For gaining practical knowledge, students are involved in study tours and training, and internship programs. The teachers and staffs are continuously working on to upgrade the quality of the educational programs of the department.
I warm-heartedly express my gratitude to all the students, parents, and distinguished colleagues who are consistently contributing to our progress and success.
