ISLM Faculty member received ‘Distinguished Scholar Recognition 2026
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to research and their role in enhancing the visibility of the University of Dhaka in the international academic arena, 62 faculty members/researchers who have received 2,000 or more citations on their Google Scholar profiles were honored. The recognition ceremony was held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, attended the event as the chief guest. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) of the University of Dhaka. Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddeddi Alfechani, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), and Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer, delivered remarks as special guests.
Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam of the Department of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM) delivered the opening remarks and gave a PowerPoint presentation on the importance of research citations. The deans of all faculties, chairpersons of all departments, directors of all institutes and centers, the Proctor, and the honored faculty members/researchers were present at the program. Among the 17 departments under the Faculty of Arts at the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam of the Department of Information Science and Library Management was the only faculty member to receive this recognition. The ISLM family is proud of his outstanding contribution to research and delighted to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
