It is indeed a great pleasure to inform you that, on November 17, 2021, the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka, Confucius Institute at North South University, and the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom jointly organized an online Seminar on China-Bangladesh Cooperation in Chinese Language Education for the first time, which opened a new situation for the Chinese language education institutions in Bangladesh to strengthen exchanges and cooperation while jointly addressing challenges. It is extremely important for advancing Chinese language education in Bangladesh and promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and Bangladesh.

To create a platform and further strengthen exchanges and cooperation among Chinese language education institutions in Bangladesh, the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka proposes to set up an annual exchange mechanism called Forum on Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh, which will be jointly organized by three Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) in Bangladesh and relevant Chinese language educational institutions annually. The forum held in 2021 is regarded as the first one, and this year we will move on to the second forum, which will be held in 31st December 2022. The Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka, the Department of Chinese Language and Culture Dhaka University, the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom and the Confucius Institute at North South University are the organizers of this forum.

We hereby cordially invite you to take part in the Second Forum on Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh and give your insights to the growth of Chinese language education in Bangladesh and China-Bangladesh educational exchanges and cooperation in light of your extensive experience and outstanding contributions in this field.

1. Main Theme of the Forum

The theme of this year’s forum is Seminar on Chinese Teaching in Bangladesh & Seminar on Compilation of the Collection of Papers on Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh. The forum will focus on the improvement of teaching skills, innovation of teaching methods, training of local Chinese teachers and compilation and publication of research papers.

6. Publishing plan of Papers on Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh

The Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka and the Department of Chinese Language and Culture of Dhaka University plan to publish a collection of papers on Chinese Language Education in Bangladesh in the second half of 2023. This collection of papers will be published in both Chinese and English. It will primarily represent the history, current situation, achievements and challenges of Chinese language education in Bangladesh. It will also bring together the reflections of Chinese language teachers based on their teaching experience in Bangladesh. The collection of papers will be the first volume on International Chinese language education in Bangladesh, which will help expand the influence of Chinese language in Bangladesh and improve teachers’ teaching and research ability.

At the forum, a compilation and publishing plan will be released. At the same time, the research outline and writing principles will be discussed. After the seminar, the call for papers will be issued to promote the compilation work as planned.
