Dr. Md. Majibur Rahman

Department of Microbiology;

Dr. Md. Majibur Rahman, currently Professor (Selection Grade/Grade-1), Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka had started his career as a Lecturer in the same department back in 1985. He worked on biogas technology during his M.Sc. program in Microbiology, University of Dhaka. For his PhD degree at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, he worked on Industrial yeast autolysis process and its mechanisms. Dr. Rahman had his postdoctoral research experiences from Vienna Agricultural University, Austria, National Food Research Institute, Tsukuba, Japan and German Center for Biotechnology (GBF), Braunsweig, Germany. He has hands on experiences in many microbiological and molecular techniques including HPLC, Fluorescence microscopy, Scanning & Transmission Electron microscopy, High density yeast production, Gene Cloning and Sequencing. He was the Principal investigator/SPM of a number of research projects funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and International agencies like NFRI, Japan, UGC, World Bank and British Academy. He has attended a number of international conferences in the UK, USA, Germany, Japan, India, Nepal and Vietnam. Dr. Rahman has until now supervised a number of MS, M.Phil. and PhD students and published more than 80 peer reviewed research papers/articles in the national and international journals.
